Truism: Shoes Make the Woman

posted on 10 July 2011

It's a bit cliché to admit, but my favorite and most versatile fashion items are shoes. When women admit that they have a love of shoes, most observers are likely to imagine stacked platforms and sky-high stilettos. I have nothing against them, but I love footwear in general, not just heels. The thing about shoes is that they can make or break an outfit, they can inspire confidence in a person, and they can say something about the person that wears them. For me, shoes are like memories. I have a ratty pair of converse that my mother despairs of. She says they make me look like an urchin, but I don't care. I still wear them. Those shoes carried me through my trip in Europe and throwing them away feels like throwing away a part of that experience. I'll wear them until they fall apart. I own many pairs of shoes. Comfortable sneakers, cute sandals, chic flats, elegant cheap boots, and sexy heels. Whenever I go out, I choose my footwear accordingly. I wouldn't wear 4-inch heels to the grocery store or sneakers to a wedding, but there are various situations where more than one type of shoe is socially acceptable. When going out to a restaurant, for example, one has their pick of what to wear. That's when one's personality and whim comes into play. If I'm feeling casual I'd go for some sandals or flats, but if I want to feel more confident and attractive I'd go for a pair of shiny pumps, or flirty wedges. Have you ever seen a business woman strutting towards her destination in a pair of sexy heels? Doesn't she look like she owns the world? What about a young girl wearing her first pair of "grown up" shoes with just that little bit of kitten heel? Doesn't she beam and walk proudly? That is what the right pair of shoes can do for someone.

Modern freshwater pearls

posted on 14 February 2011

Modern freshwater pearls come in a wide range of natural colours ranging from white through tan to grey depending mainly on the species of mollusk that is used in its production. However enhancements to the natural colour are very common giving the opportunity to enjoy pearls in a huge range of exotic and exciting colours. Unless specifically stated by the seller you can assume that any freshwater pearl jewellery has been at least bleached to remove dark spots of conchiolin that show through the nacre. Modern techniques such as dying and irradiation have been used to produce pearls with very exotic colours like red, green and purple. Pearls are normally named by their shape and so there are baroque pearls which can be any shape, stick pearls, button pearls, tiny seed or rice pearls, round and teardrop pearls. A recent form are blister pearls which are created by attaching a bead or other irritant to the shell of the mollusk and then cutting it out after it has become nacreous.

The Little Known Effect of Being Pregnant

posted on 16 December 2010

One of the oddest, and most unexpected effects of being pregnant are the strange dreams that seem to happen on a fairly regular basis. Even if you do not typically remember your dreams, these dreams will be different and you will remember every detail. One of my dreams had everyone I met wearing maternity leggings (even men!) - it was most bizarre. While they are not typically bad dreams, they still have a tendency of sticking with you. Rarely, they do tend to turn into nightmares and they can seem very real, being graphic and life-like. All ‘pregnancy dreams’ have the characteristic of being in depth, very detailed, and clear, whether they are good or bad. Some dreams will leaving you scratching your head, wondering where in the world that idea ever came from, others will just leave you speechless, while the bad ones will leave you shaking and in a cold sweat. There is no denying, whether they are good or bad, realistic or completely unreal, your dreams will definitely be interesting while you are pregnant.

On My Surprise Lingerie Party

posted on 14 October 2010

I thought it was a really great idea to have a surprise plus size lingerie party for my best friend who was getting ready to be married very soon. Every attendee would bring a different lingerie piece to be worn on the honeymoon night. Basically the lingerie would be judged by all the guests and a final decision would be made as to what one the new bride would wear for her new husband on the night of the honeymoon. The one that brought in the winning lingerie would get a small gift for winning. This involves everyone in the party and wedding planning and can take a very stressful time and make it more relaxed. Sitting around, laughing and joking with other friends allows suggestions to come up over a calm atmosphere. And the bride to be will be receiving several pieces of new bridal lingerie to show off for her husband.

The Rolex Submariner is one of the best watches ever produced.

posted on 11 October 2010

At dream-watches.co.uk we sell hundreds of rolex submariner watches and I have to say its one of the most popular watches we sell new or second hand. Most of our customers are so passionate about their watch collections and every good collection should have at least one rolex submariner such as the rolex submariner 16613 which is in steel and 18ct gold and either finished with a blue or black bezel and dial. Rolex have just stopped the production of the rolex submariner 16610 and changed it to the bigger case 116610 and also the addition of a stunning ceramic bezel. One of my favourite models is the rolex submariner 16610lv with the green bezel made to celebrate 50 years of the submariner and it was first launched in the UK in 2003 and the value of this particular watch have gone through the roof. We always say invest in the very best examples.

Seriously, Our Wedding Day was the Hottest Day Ever

posted on 2 September 2010

I love my husband dearly and he is my best friend. We have a great marriage and have been married for 16 years. We love each other, but we really do also really like each other. We got married on June 18th so it wasn't supposed to be melt your skin off hot, just a nice, warm summer day. Well, wouldn't you know that we were in the middle of a heat wave and the temperature soared above 95 degrees with really high humidity. The ceremony was outdoors and it was perfect, but we were all dripping with sweat and the guys in their tuxedos were dying. I felt like a wilting daisy. We quickly exchanged wedding rings so as not to prolong the occasion! My makeup was running, my hair was frizzing out, and all anyone could do was complain about the heat. After the ceremony we posed for pictures. Fortunately, the reception was indoors and air conditioned so eventually the complaining stopped and everyone had a great time. I got myself cleaned up along with everyone in the wedding party and we managed to somehow make ourselves presentable again. When it was all said and done, afterwards, all anyone could talk about was our beautiful day and the unbearable heat was soon forgotten. We do have one reminder though of our hottest day ever wedding. Remember those pictures that we posed for, well it took a while to get them back and when we opened the book to look at the proofs we all gasped. Most of the pictures were taken on a grassy area and, yep, you guessed it, the grass looked liked straw. We didn't seem to notice how bad it really looked that day. So now when I look at our wedding pictures I am always reminded of my super hot wedding day. The ugly, brown grass won't let me forget.

My Love Marriage, A Dream Come True

posted on 25 August 2010

I got married in last year. My marriage was little bit different in comparison than common marriages, because this was a love marriage (as opposed to an arranged married which is normal where I live). It turned out to be a bad experience, but also there were positives to be taken from this experience. I offered a range of Loose diamonds for my wife-to-be to choose from, for her engagement ring. During that time, my father did not agree with my decision, so I had a real dilemma on my hands - to choose my family or my girlfriend. Finally I had succeeded to convince my father. I was so relieved by that! My father-in-law was present there to welcome us. My friends were there too, offering some light relief to all the tension. In the end, we separated but I don't regret this experience. Life has no guarantees and I am a better person for this experience.
